HRCSB Partners With the Juvenile Justice System To Support Area Youth.

At times a Judge may mandate youth to participate in services with the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Community Services Board.  We communicate program completion or failure in order to comply directly with Juvenile Justice System. Such services might include:

  • Substance Abuse Psycho-Educational Group Youth under 18 years of age who have a first-time offense with drugs or alcohol participate in this 4-session educational group setting. The group can help participants identify substance abuse related issues, and provides an opportunity to talk with peers about peer pressure or challenges related to substance use. Facilitated by trained staff, each group typically has 8-10 youth participants at a time.
  • Choices Anger Management Program Youth between the ages of 13 and 18 at-risk of further maladaptive behavior can be ordered by the Juvenile Justice Court system to attend the Choices anger management program. This program operates with a determined curriculum, delivered in a set number of sessions. The program is offered in either group or individual settings.

We Provide Intensive Case Management For Youth On Supervised Probation.

Harrisonburg-Rockingham Community Services Board offers intensive case management services for youth on supervised probation. Specific to the probation office, intensive case management is for any youth on supervised probation who has a behavioral issue. Intensive case management supports the youth and their family by linking them to additional resources in the community. The case manager meets weekly with the youth to work on issues related to their court involvement, and to help them develop appropriate skills to decrease the likelihood of reoffending. Intensive case management is time-limited, ranging from three to six months. During that time HRCSB case managers are in regular contact with the court system and probation officer to assist the youth’s rehabilitation during their supervised probation.
